The Commissioner of the Revenue serves as an elected official responsible for overseeing the assessment of local taxes, such as personal property and business taxes, within the city. They ensure that taxes are fairly and accurately levied, including, administering programs like tax exemptions and incentives. As an attorney elected to this office, I can leverage my legal expertise to advocate for citizens by ensuring compliance with legislative code and tax laws. My legal background equips me with skills to resolve disputes and handle citizen appeals more effectively, while identifying areas where tax code may need reform or clarification. Additionally, using my experience serving on boards and commissions and having a thorough knowledge of local/state administrative processes and applications, I will work as your Commissioner of the Revenue to increase revenue while promoting efficiency and fairness that will benefit our entire community.
